Submission Guidelines

The Archive is a journal of student research that accepts submissions from current high school students (grades 9–12). Submissions must be primarily student-authored, though guidance from teachers or mentors is permitted. All work must be original, ethically conducted, and not previously published in another academic journal. Works published under blogs, submitted for assignments, or developed in an extracurricular program are permitted.

Who Can Submit?

The Archive welcomes submissions from current high school students at Mira Costa High School, across the United States, and around the world.

What Can Be Submitted?

We accept original academic work, including:

  • Research Papers

  • Literature Reviews

  • Independent Studies

  • Capstone Projects

  • Academic Essays

  • Interdisciplinary Research

Areas of Interest

Submissions may come from any discipline, including:

STEM • Social Sciences • Psychology • Economics • Business • History • Public Policy • Literature • Arts & Culture • Environmental Studies

Submission Requirements

To be considered for publication, submissions should:

  • Be the student's original work

  • Demonstrate research and analysis

  • Include citations where appropriate

  • Be written in English

  • Be submitted as a PDF or Word document


Authors may choose to publish anonymously; however, all contributors must verify their identity and student status with the editorial board, regardless of whether their work is published under their name. Please indicate on the submission form if you would like to remain anonymous in the publishing.

AI Use

Any use of artificial intelligence tools beyond the permitted purposes outlined above constitutes a violation of the journal’s academic integrity standards and may result in rejection or retraction of the work.
